Last Week's News and Layouts

My new Dell laptop got here on Tuesday finally. I think I've got just about everything on it now, though I'm not sure everything works in a few programs yet. I've had to get new drivers for a couple of things, new versions of some programs, and find little tweaks for others, and there is still more of that to do. What a pain in the rear! I've spent two days on this now, and I'm not done :P The basics seem to be running OK so far and Vista has been mostly OK to get around in. My scrap programs were the easiest to get installed- probably because they are newer programs. I have to say that it is nice and fast. I always had to wait a few seconds in Lightroom for the photo to completely load before I could edit it- not anymore, they load instantly. Mark still has to get my email and browser favorites moved over here yet, so I'm still bouncing between two computers. Hopefully he will get that taken care of before the weekend is over.

I've been battling the nasty cold that Brenna had a couple of weeks ago for about a week and a half now. I hoping it is finally on it's way to being gone as I've finally started to feel somewhat better the last couple of days. Thank goodness for powerful decongestants as that is about all that has kept me from going nuts from the stufffed nose and sinuses all week.

The girls and I are going to the Dance Quest production of Peter Pan tomorrow afternoon. It should be fun- lots of people we know will be in it and watching with us. Brenna and Sarah both entered a coloring contest at TDC and got free tickets to go. Since I had already purchased a ticket for Brenna we have invited her friend Abby from church to go with us, so Brenna is doubly excited about it now.

The older 3 kids had the first part of CSAP testing last week (state standardized achievement tests), and will have the second half next week before break starts. The big DEA dance competition in Denver is the 21 and 22 so I will be taking the twins up to that. The actual competition part is Saturday and then Sunday is 6 hours of classes they have to take- I get to sit in the lobby of the hotel with the other moms and occupy myself while they are doing that- good thing my new laptop is almost setup so I can take that. We have all sorts of extra rehearsals, appointments (orthodontist and haircuts and such) and team-building activities to do in the next couple of weeks :P Their group is looking fantastic- I think they will do really well. Ms. Toni said on Tuesday evening that she thinks they might be the first group at their age level capable of winning a platinum medal (the highest one) for TDC.

journaling: All Horizon band students were assigned to a small ensemble and given a piece to practice together. Bryce played in a trumpet trio with Rachel and Ashley. The piece they played was St. Catherine’s Rigadon. They were first to perform for the judge on Saturday morning at 8:30. They did pretty well.

Sarah wants green eyes so badly she can hardly stand it. She was sitting on my lap Tuesday morning looking at the photos on the screen and started telling me once again how she has green eyes- even though they really are blue and she knows it. So, I fixed up a photo so that she finally does have the green eyes she desperately wants. The soft green tones of this kit were perfect to set off her new 'look' ;)

I've been promising Megan I would scrap some of their Disney vacation photos for them, so here's a title page for them. Saxon is releasing her Disney collection over at SBE during March, so hopefully that will mean I get a few pages done every week for them ;)

Beautiful pages Melinda! It is so sweet that Sarah wants green eyes. Kids are so funny. I bet she loved that page! And I can't wait to see that Disney kit.
