My favorite photo from the session with JenU deserved a page of its own.

A page for my art journal- not specifically related to the AJC challenges, which I am so far behind on it’s scary.

journaling: It’s one of those things we don’t do as much as we should- walking to the park to enjoy the evening air. There are 2 parks and the school playground within a 10 minute walk from our house and the kids are almost always up for a few minutes of being care-free and just enjoying being kids. Gray clouds were threatening rain again and the wind was a bit on the chilly side, so we didn’t stay as long as they would have liked, but at least we went and had a good time for a little while!

Bryce spent a lot of his summer learning about building robots with the Lego Mindstorms kit we bought for him.

journaling: You are growing up right in front of my eyes- so very hard to believe you were so tiny and helpless not so long ago, at least in my mind. Be true to yourself- do the things you want to do and do them well. Just be you, because that person is special just the way she is!

journaling: Grandmama invited us to go camping with her at Great Sand Dunes National Park. The kids were so excited , especially because they got to sleep in her trailer. It was definitely cramped with 6 people, but it was a good time with family and fun wrap-up to summer.

A couple of pages from Vacation 2006- yep, still working on that set of pictures. What can I say? I’m a slow scrapper in some respects ;) The Pittsburgh Aquarium page was chose for the Gallery Standouts blog on August 24! I adapted a traditional scrapbook page template to this fantasy–style page for a challenge at Scrapbookgraphics and was very pleased with how that worked, so it was neat to get a little extra nod that it really did come out as well as I thought :)

And a photo montage of our day in NYC with Robin during that trip. I’ve scrapped a few bits and pieces of it, but not everything. journaling: We spent July 7, 2006 exploring The Big Apple with the kids. We parked the car in a lot on Statten Island and started the day off with a ferry ride across Upper Bay to New York City. We took the subway up to the Bronx to meet Robin at the zoo. It was wonderful to meet Robin in person after years of chatting online. After Robin had to head off to work, we headed back downtown. We spent a few minutes walking around the Ground Zero area and then found a Chinese restaurant to eat at to celebrate our anniversary. We took the ferry back to Staten Island and enjoyed watching the sunset as we passed by Liberty Island. It was a day to remember.

journaling: By some standards, our house is small for a family of our size. We have enough to eat, everyone has a place to sleep & clothes to wear, and there is still enough for us all to enjoy our hobbies. It is filled with love and laughter and is a place where we can all be ourselves- and that, I think is the most important part of being “home.”

journaling: Sarah loves to have her picture taken whenever she sees me get my camera out. “Take my picture, Mama” she tells me, and she keeps asking until I do.
