journaling: It was the second week off from dance classes and keeping everyone occupied was proving to be a challenge at times. Crafts, games, guard and hiking ended up filling our days & before we knew it the week was over.

Elizabeth took these photos with her little camera on their hike. I modified the journaling from her description of the hike on Facebook.
journaling: The hiking trip started as a trip that went through the trail 7 bridges and then was supposed to end on Mt. Kineo, but.....we took a few detours (okay, a lot of detours). In the end, we completed 7 bridges, went to the beaver dam by Mt. Tuckaway, and then completed our round trip by climbing Mt. Buckhorn.

journaling: The tie-dye kit had been waiting for us to find the time to use it for almost a year. Finally we had a day to get together with a couple of friends and give making our own colorful shirts a try. Everyone was pleased with how their shirt came out.

journaling: For almost a year we had the proverbial elephant in the room at our house - aka depression. I knew there was something wrong, but getting others to see it as a thing that could be helped took so much longer than it should have. It won’t go away on it’s own. It’s OK to admit you need help. You don’t realize how bad you felt until you don’t feel like that any more. You can be happy again. You are not alone.

journaling: No matter how many times we have been to the zoo, it is still a treat to feed the giraffes. They now get lettuce leaves most of the time, with only crackers occasionally. It doesn’t seem to phase the giraffes, they love the lettuce leaves just as much as they love rye crackers.

I started this page years ago and never finished it because I was totally unhappy with how it looked. So, when I pulled it up to work on it I found that there was no information on the layer names about the papers and elements I had first used like I have in my psd files now. So, my credits are actually a little scanty on this one.

He’s a Graduate

Yes, I know it’s been a really long time since I’ve posted. I keep Facebook more up to date and I just haven’t had time to post here too. I’ve recently found some old acquaintances via other sites than FB though and I thought I should maybe put up a new post with current happenings here.

The biggest event recently in our house was Bryce graduating from Vista Ridge High School on May 24, 2014. He plans to attend UCCS here in the Springs this fall.

Our end of the school year activities consisted of quite a few music concerts. All three older kids  are in concert band, and Bryce and Elizabeth also play in jazz band. Elizabeth plays the baritone sax in jazz band and we like to tease her that it is almost as big as she is. In the photo below L to R: Bryce, Elizabeth and Carissa

The band plays live music during graduation for our school, and this was I think the first time in all 4 years of high school that I could actually see all 3 kids faces while they played in band since graduation took place in the World Arena. Usually Bryce and Elizabeth are hidden behind rows of other kids.

Brenna ‘graduated’ from elementary school and will be a 6th grader next year.

Sarah will be a third grader next year. This is her with her friend Gwen at their second grade picnic.

We are getting ready for the big annual dance recital in just a couple of days. Here are a few ‘preview’ photos. I missed getting Beth and Carissa’s tap group somehow, so I will have to make sure I get photos at dress rehearsal for those numbers!

journaling: I’ve always loved being backstage at theater productions, helping make the magic of the show happen. So, when an opportunity to work with the kids and be backstage during performances presented itself I jumped on it. It was magical backstage- supervising the kids, helping them with cues and props, chatting with the Ballet Idaho Company members, and being able to watch the action up close.

journaling: Elizabeth had lots of fun as a sailor on the HMS Taffy this year in the Nutcracker with Ballet Idaho. She liked to joke that they were a bunch of drunk sailors as one of the first things they did in their dance was to look for their boat, which was always parked right behind them.

journaling: Once the shows are done, it’s time for a party! Food, an ornament exchange, Christmas music, and lots of friends always add up to a good time. All of the girls had learned the Virginia Reel from the Schefflers by the end of the party, and they had to turn the music off to make them get ready to go home.

and well, it is way later than I planned on posting this…. I guess I thought I was going to get some more layouts done. But, that hasn’t happened and now the casting assignments for the 2013 shows are out. LOL So, I will just add a few more photos and call it good! We’ve had so much fun participating in this production, I’m looking forward to doing it again for the third time :)

 

I don’t have any photos of the battle scene rehearsals in the studio this year since I was running the music for the teachers. A job I enjoyed, but I thought it would be tacky to not be paying attention to the teachers because I was peering through the camera lens LOL
