Dance Costumes Pictures and a sister page

The girls got the rest of their class dance costumes last week. We brought home a new costume (or two) nearly every day. Sarah in particular is so thrilled to finally have a costume of her own hanging on the rack next to her sisters’. I think the only ones we don’t have at home yet are Beth and Carissa’s costumes for the opening number, and I’m not sure when we will be getting those.

Brenna’s Pre-ballet class costume. They are china dolls who come to life after the shop closes for the day.
Beth and Carissa’s ballet costume. They are dancing to music from the movie, The Secret Garden. I really like the piece of music (it has a wonderful oboe line throughout, so I may be a bit biased towards it LOL) and their dance is beautiful.

Sarah and her classmates are Tinkerbell fairies, dancing to “I Don’t Wanna Grow Up” from Peter Pan. Their class helper is playing the role of Peter Pan.

And Beth and Carissa’s Jazz 5 costumes. This dance is to “Vacation” by Vitamin C from the first Pokemon movie.

It was very good to see and spend time visiting with my sister and her kids over spring break. I wish we were closer so that we could do it more often!

New LOs with Corina goodies

I've spent way too many hours during the last 4 days cleaning my house. It's now officially summer break and DH took that to mean we all had time to clean everything from top to bottom. Yuck! OK, yes it needs to be done as some places were a total mess. But, I don't like spending all of my time cleaning and nagging the kids to clean. Things are starting to look a lot better though, so in the end it will be worth it but man the process stinks! LOL I don't think we can even put out everything we have decided to throw away for the garbage men to pick up this week. I have a growing pile of things that will be donated to Goodwill too. I think I put on some tag list on here something about getting the table in my living room cleaned off- well, that is almost done. It's taken me three days so far to unbury it and sort stuff, but it is almost finshed. Hopefully tomorrow I will be able to see the top of it again and then maybe I can actually move my laptop off of the dining room table. I won't be able to see the TV in the family room any more if i do that though, so I'm not quite sure how that will work. I wouldn't have to worry about a child accidentally spilling drinks all over it though, so that would be a big plus. Today was mostly spent going through all of the school papers that were brought home last week. Photos of projects, art papers, end of the year certificates and anything the kids wanted to have a photo of were taken this afternoon and they've all been 'round filed.' I also went through all of the leftover supplies to sort out what can be saved for the next school year. We have an extremely large pile of spiral notebooks that are partially used for the kids to use as drawing/journaling notebooks now. I just need to figure out somewhere to put them so that they are accessible, but not in the way. Add in the never-ending cleaning tasks of dishes and laundry and it seems like I haven't done much but clean up something the last few days. After spending most of the days picking up, I have given myself permission to do some 'fun' stuff in the evening and I've managed to finish a couple of layouts with new and old (new to me anyway) Corina goodies.

As stage mom for the girls' tap class, I get to come up with a group gift for their tap teacher. I'm leaning towards getting a nice 12x12 frame and having this printed for her. Or the other thought I had was to put the group photo on a t-shirt and have all of the girls sign it for her. I guess it depends on how many of the moms actually give me money for the gift.

Oh, and not only have we been cleaning at our house, but we went to my mom's Monday morning and spent a lot of the day helping her clean out her garage. Bryce mowed her lawn for the second time and learned to use the weed trimmer too. While moving and going through all of the still unpacked boxes in the garage, we found an original drawing by my Dad of me at 3 years old. We don't have that many things that were actually hand-drawn by him, so it was nice to find this. It is now gracing the table in my living room. Even the very 70s style frame it is in looks pretty good in there as we do have a bit of olive green in the rug and the window valance. I'm not sure where I will put it permanently, but I will find some place for it. Here's a scrapbooked version of it.

'Little Me' LOs

I've been scrapping older pictures this week- I guess that is just what I've felt like working on and what fit some of the things I've needed to work with. I scanned a bunch of pictures from an album I borrowed from my mom since I wanted to scrap one in particular and most of them didn't have dates written on the back. I actually started this next page at the very end of my scrapping day out a month ago, and I finally got around to finishing it up. No, I never did catch a fish. The girl holding up the fish on the end of the string on the left is Megan. I'm on the right page. I don't think I've been fishing since. There are too many other things I'd rather be doing than sitting still on the edge of a lake, I guess ;)

journaling: Grandpa Clyde McCasland liked to go fishing. During our summer visit in 1979, he helped Megan and I fish for the first time. We set up our chairs and poles at the edge of the lake in the backyard. I remember getting my line caught in the tree once, and not catching any fish, though Megan caught one.

259 and counting!!

259- that's the number of scrapbook layouts that I took to the copy shop yesterday morning to be printed. I don't think that is quite as many as last year, but there were lots of cards and hybrid projects I did this year that aren't represented in that number. A pretty productive year no matter how you look at it, I think ;) Between pages for my scrapbooks, the gift scrapbooks I'm giving family, and all of the calendars I'm having printed- my total page count is around 600 pages being printed for me. I did warn the guy who helped me with my teeny order for the cookie exchange pages last week that I would be back and to be ready!

and I say 'counting' because there are still some more that have to be done before the end of year. I will probably just print those at home since it will be a more reasonable number- at least one that fighting with my printer over won't be too difficult. I really need to get a new one, but the ones that I've heard good things about are so darn expensive. and then there is the whole wide-format question: whether I really need one and if I did get one, where in the world would I put it?? I'm sure I'll keep pondering those questions and start keeping an eye on the sale ads.

It snowed again last night and was still snowing this morning, so after the initial announcement that the start of school was delayed two hours they ended up cancelling it completely. Today is library day for us and there are books that can't be renewed and need to be returned so we will be venturing out into the mess a little later. The fourth grade is doing a mining town version of the gingerbread town project this year to go along with their Colorado history unit and all of the supplies the twins need to bring in are due tomorrow, which also means a stop at Walmart on the way home from the library.

Here's the first finished LO, #260, for the day- I hope to get at least one more done at some point. I guess we will see if that happens with the kids here all day distracting me and needing to do things like eat and be entertained and kept out of trouble.

I've been scrapping away the last couple of days! Here's what's new:

I took Brenna and Sarah to the park for a picnic lunch on Monday as it was almost 80 degrees out. I figured we had better take advantage of the warm day since most likely that won't be happening again for quite a few months (it didn't get above freezing today and there is snow on the ground now!). The girls enjoyed playing on the playground and I followed them around with my camera. Sarah is quite the little climber now and I had to keep a pretty close eye on her so that she didn't fall off of something I didn't expect her to be on.

Trying to squeeze in some extra designing time for Scrapdish has put me in a time crunch to get all of my CT scrapping finished up on schedule this month.
