New multi-photo layouts

and when I say 'multi-photo', that is exactly what I mean! I've had these sets of photos for a long time now, and I guess it was just time to work on them LOL An inspiring sketch on the Prima blog, some new templates from Mish, and working on some new templates for my store I guess just made the creative juices flow. I think I'm about sick of the Star Wars photos now though. Click on the layouts to see them a bit bigger ;)

journaling: We had lots of fun during our stop in Norfolk, VA looking for the Mermaids on Parade statues. I didn’t take pictures of all of them, so I found pictures on the internet of some of the other ones we spotted while driving around town. 1- Ocarina, 2-By The Stars, 3- Dominique, 4- Hats Off To The Navy, 5- Literacy, 6- Mirror Mosaic, 7- Of the Sea, 8- Mystique, 9- 1950 Fish Dish, 10- Tiger Woods, 11-Lady of the Links

It feels good to FINALLY have these Star Wars exhibit photos scrapped. I started these pages right after coming back from vacation almost two years ago and wasn't happy with what I had done, so the files just sat there until last night when I decided it was time to tackle the project again. A full 24 hours later and I have 5 full pages of Star Wars photos finished. Thank goodness I have a DS who is a Star Wars nut and could help me with the names of the characters and vehicles I didn't have shots of the name plates in the photos for. The things stuck in his head amaze me sometimes LOL The backgrounds on these layouts are from the dividers that filled the exhibit hall- the painting was incredibly realistic so of course I had to take some pictures to use in my scrapbook!
journaling: We enjoyed the special exhibit at COSI on the science of Star Wars. Not only did we get to see lots of original costumes and models from the Star Wars movies, but we also learned about some of the science behind them. Hands on activities on how to build robots and their role in manufacturing, the medical field and every day life, and whether vehicles such as the land speeder can ever be a reality fascinated the older kids for several hours. They even got to try their hand at driving a real version of an air-cushion propelled vehicle. COSI Science Center, Columbus, OH June 25, 2006

Hybrid Tutorial

Jen Caputo of Digital Scrapbooking TV has a new episode up, and the whole episode is how to create a hybrid LO. Her tutorials are great! I'm sure there are so cool digital tricks tucked in there as well as the hybrid tips. I've learned a lot of things from Digital Scrapbooking TV!

Saturday morning we went to the egg hunt at our church. The forecasted snowstorm was a bit late coming into the area, so the hunt probably could have been held outside this year. By the time we were done and heading home, the storm was finally starting to blow in with temperatures obviously dropping and the wind picking up. Sarah had a good time this year, only throwing a very mild tantrum when I had to tell her that she had to wait a minute before she could start picking up the eggs she saw in front of her. Once I told her to go, she got up off the floor and started filling her basket. That was a definite improvement over last year's long and loud screaming fit.

After we got home from the egg hunt, I headed back out to the grocery store with Sarah and Brenna to get some things for Sunday morning breakfast. After having some ham samples, I decided to go ahead and pick up a ham and a few other things to have our Easter dinner that evening, instead of trying to do it after church this morning. So, I spent all afternoon in the kitchen making breakfast casseroles and a big ham dinner. There wasn't room enough in the refrigerator for the casserole pans, so I just stuck them out in the garage on top of the chest freezer- it was definitely cool enough out there LOL I stocked up on eggs at the store since they were on sale finally (they are running over $5 for 18 eggs at full price around here now), but I decided to pass on the egg coloring this year. My mom had invited us to her house a couple of weeks ago for a big early Easter dinner and one of the things she made was a large batch of deviled eggs. The older kids enjoyed them fairly well at her house, but didn't seem to keen on eating the leftover ones that we brought home. Mark won't eat them now since he is on his new low cholesterol diet, and I didn't relish the thought of having to eat a dozen boiled eggs myself.

I got up bright and early this morning to put the casseroles in the oven, and then I headed outside to get the car cleared of the snow and ice that had accumulated over night- brrr. That certainly woke me up :P Just look at my post from Thursday and that is pretty much what it looked like here this morning too. The casseroles were a hit- I made Blueberry Brunch Casserole and Apple-Raisin Casserole. Sarah didn't like the blueberries, but she gobbled up the 'bapple' version.

The services this morning at Village 7 went well- no major disasters on the music front. The choir and orchestra sat through both services, so I got to listen to the sermon twice so it was good that I enjoyed it ;) I haven't heard much about how things went at our church for Mark and the kids, so that must mean everything went normally there. Brenna did give a report on all of the yummy snacks they got during children's church, which were probably leftover from the brunch they had before church (and which Mark decided not to attend by himself) LOL After church was over we spent some time cleaning up the house- the never ending task that it is, and just relaxing. So all in all it was a good day.

As of Friday at 3:05 my kids are all on spring break for two weeks. Bryce and Beth have consultation appointments with the orthodontist Tuesday afternoon. The library is doing their Imagination Celebration events this next week. I haven't really looked at the schedule yet to see which shows might hold the little one's attention. There's an exhibit on the Simpich dolls at the Pioneer museum that my mom and I want to go see, and we might plan another outing to the Fountain Creek Nature Center. I'm sure the time will drag and go too quickly all at the same time LOL

The April Scrapdish Designers collaborative kit is out! It's half off and a steal right now at only $3.00. Lots of fun stuff in this one!
here's my contribution:

I hope everyone has a good start to the new week!

Happy Easter!

The Lord is Risen!

I hope everyone has a wonderfully blessed Easter this year!

Answer about basket template for Kay

I don't have the capability with blogger to email people back directly when they leave a comment unless I already know their email addy. I've sent Kay a PM about her question, but people don't always know they have a message at forums, so I will just post my answer to her here too in the hope that she sees it.

To get a pattern paper to show up on the scalloped edge after you fold it over, you have to have printed a second pattern on the second side of the paper. I use double-sided photo paper, but you could just use white cardstock too. Print your designed basket on one side of the paper, then pick a coordinating paper to go with it and flip the paper over and run it through the printer again so that it is on the 'backside' of your basket. When you fold it all together then that coordinating paper is on the inside of the basket and will show on the folded down part of the scallop edge.
Make sense?
I've got a few more pictures with my instructions in my thread in the tutorial forum over at PH, if that helps any.

Since you've already printed the baskets at this point, you can decorate the edge with stamps, clear tape, stickers, or whatever you feel like.

Please contact me directly (check the TOU file you got with the template for the addy) if you still need help figuring this out.

Snow, St.Patrick's Day, Easter and more baskets

whew! lots of things going on. Monday school was cancelled because of snow. We actually had a lot of snow over the weekend with a couple of snowstorms blowing through. These pics are from Friday, but I could just have easily taken them Monday. The snow all melted from the first storm before we were hit again. Crazy Colorado weather! it's supposed to be in the 60s today.

Sunday evening's performance of the Last Supper went well. Over 900 people attended despite the snowy and icy weather, and many people were touched. It felt good to play one song correctly that I hadn't been able to during practices- the first practice I didn't have it transposed correctly and the second one I just plain missed all of my cues (so I still had no idea if I had finally gotten the transposition right). It all came together correctly when it counted though. I had practice for the Easter morning service last night- lots of great music to play. The Easter Song (hear the bells ringing, they're singing that you can be born again.....) and the Hallelujah chorus from the Messiah are really fun to play, as well as lots of traditional hymns.

Monday was St. Patricks day and we did up the green at our house in part to entertain and occupy the kids during their day off from school. Lots of green and Irish food to enjoy! I spent most of the day in the kitchen cooking and cleaning up, but everyone enjoyed it all. Sarah gobbled down the corned beef I gave her and wanted more, which is rare for her since it was something new and things don't usually go so well if it is the first time she has had it.
journaling: School was cancelled because of the snow- lucky for the kids (they thought so anyway). So, I decided to spoil and entertain them a bit with lots of green food. I made green shamrock shaped pancakes for lunch, green shamrock spritz cookies for snack time, and of course the traditional corned beef, cabbage and potatoes and Irish soda bread for dinner. Even Sarah enjoyed everything we ate during our ‘Lucky Day!’

PrimaHybrid Flower Girl Blog Party- Take 2

We had 4 ladies join our team at PrimaHybrid a couple of weeks ago after the call for new Girls ended, and we decided to throw another blog party since the last one was so successful. Help us give a big welcome to
Laura Kannady
Patricia Komara
Teresa Victor
Monika Martinson

I've been an admirer of Laura's LOs over at SBG for a while, so I'm thrilled to be working with her at PrimaHybrid. I lifted one of her gorgeous LOs: e&j. I loved it's beautiful simplicity that really lets the stunning photo shine. This also happens to be one of my BBB Circle Journal LOs too. Audra wanted us to scrap a favorite photo- this is my current favorite. One of those miracle photos where the lighting was absolutely perfect. This photo is straight off my camera with no touch ups of any kind :) and it was just such a sweet moment too.

Goodness, where does the day go?

I was intending to get here earlier today, but it just didn't happen. I finished up a LO this morning, got dinner in the crockpot and cleaned up the kitchen and helped Brenna clean up her room, we went to lunch (today was DH's every other Friday off), took the twins to dance, we went to a potluck dinner at a friend's house from church, and after coming home and trying to get some things worked out for childcare this weekend during rehearsal and performance for the Last Supper Sunday night, I'm just not actually now getting around to posting today. I don't think this weekend is going to be any less hectic with all we have going on!

Let's see, what other things have I accomplished that I haven't shown off yet....
here's the LO I finished this morning. Since several of us joined Jess Bolton's CT recently, we're being welcomed with scraplift challenges by the team. I was up first, and now it is TracyB's turn.
I chose her Rock Park LO, and this is what I ended up with. Fun! I love how it turned out.

My mom is coming up on a big anniversary next month- 50 years of playing the piano and organ for the churches she has been a member of. She is going to be giving a concert of some of her favorite pieces in Spokane at the end of April, and she asked me to design the front of her invitation she will be mailing to family and friends.

and a LO I did last week celebrating the homemade version of McD's shamrock shakes. I never could find one last year, and I'm not having much luck this year either so far, so I made some at home. At least everyone who wanted one got a full glass that way, so it wasn't probably the way to go. I did this for the latest Girl Talk template challenge. I intended to scrap these last March and just never got around to it.

We are getting geared up to sing with my mom's church again. They are doing a big production of the Living Last Supper on Palm Sunday evening as well as lots of music during the Easter morning services.

Mark was asked to sing with some of the men at our church service Easter morning, so it looks like we'll be going in different directions for a while that day. I'm the only oboeist this time, so I have to be there. I'll be playing in the orchestra and my mom and DH singing in the choir. I need to dig out the pictures of Mark in one of these productions- back in Pullman our church there did this two years and Judy managed to sweet-talk him into it both times. He still isn't sure why he agreed to it the second time around since he knew exactly what he was getting himself into that time. It is a very moving production and worth seeing during the Easter season if you ever get the chance.

Oh, and we found out tonight that the big concert in 2009 is going to be with Steve Green, it will be similar to how the Michael Card concert went. Wow, I never thought I would get to play with such big music names!

Prima Hybrid Frame project

So, my first PrimaHyrbid tutorial is finally posted. It's been done for a long time, I just didn't have the go-ahead to post it until yesterday. I created a 3D hybrid frame project from a digital LO of the last picture I have of my Dad and I did.

and here is the finished frame.

If you are interested in the tutorial, you can check it out HERE.

The big kids are going to be coming through the door in a few minutes, and I need to get the library books and videos ready to go. They all started CSAP testing today- it was the first of 6 days over the next two weeks- so I'm sure they are going to be ready to relax tonight. I know the twins won't have any homework, and I hope that Bryce doesn't have too much as the stress of the testing really does take a mental toll on them. Sarah is the latest victim of the cold bug. Poor kiddo has had her nose wiped about every 15 minutes the last couple of days and has the typical croaky voice. So, once again we had to miss bible study this morning. Those of us who have had it are all still coughing to some degree. We had a hint of spring Saturday here- I still have to get all of the pretty pictures I took when we went out for a walk with my mom off the camera. I'm certainly done with winter and ready to get over all of the illness.

'Little Me' LOs

I've been scrapping older pictures this week- I guess that is just what I've felt like working on and what fit some of the things I've needed to work with. I scanned a bunch of pictures from an album I borrowed from my mom since I wanted to scrap one in particular and most of them didn't have dates written on the back. So, in the process of trying to figure all that out, I started looking through other pictures I had scanned a year ago.

I actually started this next page at the very end of my scrapping day out a month ago, and I finally got around to finishing it up. No, I never did catch a fish. The girl holding up the fish on the end of the string on the left is Megan. I'm on the right page. I don't think I've been fishing since. There are too many other things I'd rather be doing than sitting still on the edge of a lake, I guess ;)
journaling: Grandpa Clyde McCasland liked to go fishing. During our summer visit in 1979, he helped Megan and I fish for the first time. We set up our chairs and poles at the edge of the lake in the backyard. I remember getting my line caught in the tree once, and not catching any fish, though Megan caught one.
